Job description
VSHN, pronounced like “vision,” is Switzerland's leading Managed Service Provider for enabling DevOps, cloud-native development, and agile IT operations. We empower software teams with self-service products like APPUiO, Servala, and Application Catalog, alongside tailored solutions built on our Managed OpenShift and standardized building blocks, leveraging GitOps, CI/CD, and Cloud Services, VM-based services, and various support and operations subscriptions. Servala - Sovereign App Store bridges the gap between CSPs, ISVs, and Enterprises, providing cloud-native services and DevOps tools. Most of these services are provided as managed services by VSHN, ensuring applications are testable, deployable, scalable, and operable in any cloud or on-premise environment.
Your new role: Linux System Engineer
As a Linux System Engineer at VSHN, you’ll help ensure the reliability, scalability, and stability of our extensive Linux-based infrastructure, supporting systems across multiple countries. You’ll engineer and maintain solutions using tools like Puppet and Ansible in non-containerized environments, with a strong focus on operations and continuous improvement.
This is a hands-on, technical role where you'll dive into troubleshooting, resolve incidents, and contribute directly to improving our systems and processes. You’ll collaborate with internal teams and customers alike, and be part of our Responsible Ops and on-call rotations to ensure excellent service availability.
Responsibilities summarized
Build and maintain Linux-based infrastructure using Puppet and Ansible
Troubleshoot complex issues and resolve incidents with clear communication
Support 24/7 availability through Responsible Ops and on-call rotations
Enhance and debug existing services for improved resilience and performance
Work with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable infrastructure solutions

Proficiency in English at a native-speaker level (German is a plus)
You are
Excited to work in a company with self-managed teams, where reasoned arguments hold sway over hierarchical mandates and your work can make a real impact.
Passionate about delivering customer value in a collaborative, iterative way
Curious to explore customer systems and emerging infrastructure technologies
Comfortable working across a wide range of systems and with diverse technical teams
As a bonus:
Experience with databases like MariaDB, MongoDB, and PostgreSQL

At VSHN, we are open to hiring motivated individuals with varying levels of experience who demonstrate a strong commitment to learning and quickly applying new skills on the job. The remuneration for this role will be in line with our fixed salary policy, which applies universally across all roles.
